Mr. Murphy is responsible for AGA‘s program area focused on long term demand growth opportunities for the natural gas utility industry. Mr. Murphy works with AGA’s member companies to explore new business models and leadership strategies for natural gas utilities to deploy in an evolving energy economy. This role is responsible for leading priority initiatives intended to support growth for natural gas utilities as well as long-term value for its customers.
Mr. Murphy has held senior level positions in the utility industry for over 30 years with a focus in marketing, business development, energy efficiency, account management, community relations and customer service. Prior to working with the AGA in his current role, Mr. Murphy was Senior Vice President of Energy Solutions Services for National Grid, a natural gas and electric utility serving the northeast United States.
Mr. Murphy earned his MBA degree from Northeastern University and a Bachelors degree from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell. He has served on a number of boards including Boston’s A Better City and the Massachusetts Economic Development Council. He has been active in both the American Gas Association and the Northeast Gas Association.
