Gearoid Foley has worked for the past three decades in the construction, HVAC and onsite power industries. He is an active energy industry participant and is a member of ASHRAE and the Association of Energy Engineers. He is a board member and past president of the NJ AEE, is a voting member of ASHRAE’s Cogeneration Committee, has served as peer reviewer for DOE’s Distributed Energy program and is technical advisor for the NJ CHP/DG Coalition. Mr. Foley has collaborated with state agencies throughout the Mid-Atlantic region including the NJ BPU, NJ EDA, PA PUC, PA DCED, MD MEA and DE DNREC and has provided testimony and program development support for energy efficiency, combined heat & power and resilience programs.
His experience includes new technology demonstration, applications engineering, project management and policy development relating to on-site power generation, thermal technologies, microgrids and energy resiliency. Mr. Foley founded Integrated CHP Systems Corp. in 2003 which provides consulting services to the on-site energy industry. Clients served by ICHPS include RWJBarnabas Health, Cooper UH, Mack-Cali RE, Johnson Controls, BEA Systems, WGL Energy, Veolia, Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, Penn State University, Princeton University and the Electric Power Research Institute. For the past nine years he has served as the New Jersey Director and a Senior Technical Advisor for DOE’s CHP Technical Assistance Partnership.
Mr. Foley coauthored ASHRAE’s 2008 Handbook Chapter on CHP Systems as well as a book entitled ‘Sustainable On-Site CHP Systems’ published by McGraw Hill and was subsequently engaged by ASHRAE to coauthor the current Combined Heat and Power Design Guide published in 2015. Mr. Foley assisted in the development of ASERTTI’s test protocol for CHP systems, is a two-time recipient of the CHP Champions award from the national CHP Association and has presented papers and given seminars at national and regional conferences for multiple organizations.
